Awwam

The Awwam ( altsüdarabisch ʾ wm, Arabic Haram Bilqis (DMG Haram Bilqis ) or Mahram Bilqis (DMG Mahram Bilqis ) ) is a Sabaean temple near Marib in Yemen today. It was built by Mukarrib Yada'il Dharih I, who reigned between the 7th and 5th centuries BC.

The largest part of the temple is occupied by an unguarded yard, which is enclosed by a massive stone wall with irregular oval shape. To the north is an entrance hall with attached, which is composed of an open courtyard and a multi-story portico. Several dozen were on the inner wall of the entrance hall are highly relevant inscriptions from the late period of the Sabaean kingdom. The Awwam 1951-52 was excavated by the American Foundation for the Study of Man under the direction of Wendell Phillips partially.
