Axel Jüptner

Axel Jüptner ( born April 26, 1969 in Gemmrigheim, † April 24, 1998 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German football player.

Career

Axel Jüptner played in the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart ( 1988-1991 25 Bundesliga games) before joining Bayer Uerdingen (from 1992 to 1996 he played 88 first division matches and scored 1 goal ) changed. There he played in the 1st and 2nd league. In November 1997, he went to the second division side FC Carl Zeiss Jena. On 23 April 1998 he suddenly broke in Jena after training together unconscious and died as a result of myocardial infarction, which was caused by an undetected heart muscle inflammation a day later.

Family

Axel Jüptner was married to wife Ines and had two children. After his death, his widow sued the team doctor of FC Carl Zeiss for damages and pain and suffering. The doctor asked Axel Jüptner classified as suitable for play despite illness. The suit was finally dismissed in April 2007.
