Axel Tyll

Axel Tyll ( born July 23, 1953 in Magdeburg ) was soccer player in the DDR - Oberliga, the highest East German league. There he played for the first FC Magdeburg, with which he was three times champion and three times GDR Cup winner. In 1974, he won the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Football career

Tyll grew up as the son of the referee supervisor Rolf Tyll and began playing football at the BSG Motor Mitte Magdeburg and in 1966 delegated to 1.FC Magdeburg. In the season 1969/70 Axel Tyll was with the 1st FC Magdeburg DDR junior champion and won the East German Football Cup for Juniors. Only 17 years old he made his debut in 1970 in the first team of the 1st FC Magdeburg. The 1.76 m wide midfielder graduated from 1970 to 1982 a total of 317 duty games, including 233 league, 44 national and 40 European Cup games for 1.FC Magdeburg. In his league games Tyll scored 40 goals and added a third in the European Cup games.

Tyll denied during the period from 1973 to 1975 four caps for the national football team of the GDR. During the preparation of the 1974 World Cup, he was part of the squad, but was ultimately not nominated. In 1972 he was a member of the East German Olympic team that won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Munich (1 final game).

The greatest success with the first FC Magdeburg he reached after winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1974. In the final against AC Milan Tyll prepared the gate in front of the 2-0 draw.

1982 Tyll had to undergo meniscus surgery. The new coach of the first FCM, Claus Kreul was not satisfied as to the fitness Tylls. Tyll therefore wanted to switch to bismuth Aue, but this was not allowed. He therefore moved to detraining in the District League to unit Wernigerode. After German reunification, he was responsible for the liabilities arising from the merger of unit and 1 FC Germania Wernigerode. Later he taught at the Wernigeröder August Hermann Franke Middle School sports, business and technology and then was physical education teacher in Dardesheim. In addition, Axel Tyll played several years in the tradition of the team 1.FC Magdeburg, before two artificial hips finally put an end to his sports activities.

Axel Tyll is married and has a son and a daughter.
