Axial piston pump

An axial piston pump is inserted in the hydraulic device for converting mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. Are both axial piston pumps in industrial applications (eg heavy engineering, plastics engineering ) as used in mobile working machines. A distinction is made between bent axis and swash plate pumps. You can have constant or variable flow volume and direction of conveyance.

They are used in hydrostatic transmissions in vehicles. Here, performance (speed and torque) on oil pressure transfer ( maximum of about 400-500 bar). The oil flow is infinitely adjustable, thereby resulting in a continuously variable transmission with very high power density. Typical applications include excavators, wheel loaders, tractors increased, groomers, combine harvesters and many other slow drivers.

Compared with a torque converter to show the different hydraulic principles:

  • In the hydrodynamic converter, a torque is generated at the output on the oil flow.
  • In the hydrostatic transmission, a torque is generated at the output by the oil pressure.

The pistons are supported in Kugelpfannlagern axially and take the drum radially.

Properties of bent axis pumps:

  • Self-priming and easily approachable
  • Insensitive to dirt
  • Suitable for alternating pressure load
  • Tend to vibrate during acceleration and deceleration
  • Flow rate can be adjusted
  • Can not be adjusted quickly
