Axillary lines
The axillary folds (Latin linea axillary ) are imaginary lines along the upper body vertically, starting from certain points of the armpit.
There are three axillary folds:
- Anterior axillary line ( anterior axillary line ) perpendicular from the highest point of the anterior axillary fold, which is formed by the pectoralis major
- Mid-axillary ( midaxillary line ) perpendicular from the highest point of the armpit or the middle of the armpit to bottom
- Posterior axillary line ( posterior axillary line ) runs from the highest point of the posterior axillary fold, which is formed by the latissimus dorsi and teres major, vertically downwards
