Axoneme

The axoneme ( formerly called axis thread ) is a term used in cell biology. It is a structure of microtubules, which runs in the interior of eukaryotic cilia. Nine peripheral Doppelmikrotubuli (A- and B- tubules with inner and outer dynein arms ) surround two single central microtubules in the middle ( " 9x2 2 " structure ).

Axoneme are located eg in cilia and sperm flagella. The axonemale movement protein dynein.

The Achsfäden the primary, nichtmotilen flagella also called axoneme. They lack the central microtubule pair ( structure ie 9x2 0) and dynein.
