Axtbach

BW

The Axtbach, a stream in the Munsterland, is a 34.1 km long, orographic left tributary of the Ems. It rises on Mack mountain in the Beckumer mountains, flows through Oelde, the Oelder peasantry Menninghausen, the Herzebrock- Clarholzer district Mohler and then flows south past Clarholz by Beelen, which opens west of the municipality of Beilbach in him. The Axtbach itself flows east of Warendorf in Vohren in the Ems.

In the area of the grounds of the State Garden Show 2001 in Oelde and Vohren the Axtbach has been rehabilitated. He is now flowing again partly in its original bed by wetlands and floodplain forms. The straightening or channeling in Beelen and Vohren took place in 1964.

To fish in the Axtbaches include carp, tench, pike, eels, bream and roach. There are now again freshwater mussels.
