Aydın Polatçı

Mehmet Aydın Polatçı ( born May 15, 1977 in Hafik, Sivas ) is a Turkish wrestler. 2005, he was world champion in free style at heavyweight.

Career

Aydın Polatçı grew up in his birthplace, where he started in 1993 with the rings, after he had previously operated oil wrestling match in the Turkish national sport. He was heavyweight with 1.90 meters in size and about 125 kg body weight. After initial successes at junior level he was a member of the Ringer clubs Aski Ankara, where Mehmet Polatçı his coach was. Aydın Polatçı preferred the free style throughout his career. Only in Military World Championships, he worked twice in the Greco- Roman style.

His first international start, he graduated in 1995 at the Junior European Championships in Witten, where he finished in the heavyweight division in the age group of Juniors ( up to age 18 ) in free style first place ahead of Tamas Abraham from Hungary and Oleg Chorpjakow from Russia.

In 1997, he fought in several international championships in the juniors, but it did for the seniors. In the military this year 's World Cup he came in the heavyweight in Greco -Roman style behind Alexei Kolesnikov from Russia into second place and in free style behind Dawid Mussulbes from Russia and Alireza Rezaie from Iran to third place. At the Junior European Championships 1997 in Istanbul and at the Junior World Championship 1997 in Helsinki, he finished each the first place. In Istanbul he won ahead of Artyom Aschigew from Russia and Alexander Modebadse from Georgia and in Helsinki before Alexis Rodríguez Valera from Cuba and Artyom Aschigew. In 1998 he was European champion in Bratislava, where he defeated one after Dawid Mussulbes, Krassimir Kotschew from Bulgaria, Sven Thiele and Milan Mazac from Slovakia. At the World Cup in 1998 in Tehran, he was defeated in his first fight against Andrei Shumilin from Russia. After four victorious battles he lost then in a battle for the bronze medal against the Americans Kerry McCoy.

1999 lost Aydın Polatçı at the European Championships in Minsk to four wins in the finals again against Andrei Shumilin ( 3:4 techn. Dots). In the 1999 World Cup at home in Ankara, he lost in his third fight against the unknown Americans Stephen Neal, who then became world champion, on points ( 6:10 techn. Dots). According to the rules applicable at that time so he had to drop out and only came on the 5th Place.

In 2000, he started only at the Olympic Games in Sydney. He won his first fight there against Zsolt Gombos from Hungary, but then lost to eventual silver medalist Artur Taymazov from Uzbekistan, what his departure meant.

At the 2001 World Championships in Sofia Aydın Polatçı landed after a defeat in the third match against Dawid Mussulbes in fifth place. At the World Cup 2002 in Tehran, he won a bronze medal. After a defeat in the semi-final against David Mussulbes he defeated the Georgians David Otiaschwili.

2004 won Aydın Polatçı at the European Championships in Ankara his second international title in the seniors. It struck Bodschidar Bojadschiew from Bulgaria, Zoltan Farkas from Hungary, Radoslaw Jankowski from Poland, Sven Thiele and Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow from Russia. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens he met after victories over Rareş Daniel Chintojan from Romania, Sven Thiele and Alexis Rodríguez Valera Artur Taymazov, he was defeated by the back points.
