Ayhan Akman

Ayhan Akman ( born February 23, 1977 in İnegöl, Bursa ) is a former Turkish football player.

Club career

Ayhan Akman began his professional career in the 1993/94 season in the jersey of Inegölspor. A season later he moved to Gaziantepspor and made his debut on November 13, 1994 against Kayserispor. In just a short time he became a regular player in the midfield and was considered a great talent in Turkey. In the season 1996/97 he was locked because of the illicit use of anabolic steroids for six months. Beşiktaş Istanbul signed him in 1998 for a transfer fee of 8.5 million euros. Akman played three unsuccessful seasons and moved in summer 2001 to city rivals Galatasaray. Ayhan Akman won in his first season at Galatasaray 's first Turkish Cup. It was followed by two more championships in 2006 and 2008.

After 19 years Akman ended his career in the final of the 2011/12 season and was the last time Turkish champions.

National

Ayhan Akman was a Turkish national football team since 1998. His first game for the national team, he completed on 18 February 1998 in a friendly match against Israel. Akman belonged to the Turkish contingent in the European Football Championship 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands. For the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, he was not considered. In his second Championship 2008 Akman was a reserve player and only played in the semi-final against Germany.
