Ayla Akat Ata

Ayla Akat Ata (born 16 February 1976 Diyarbakır, Turkey) is a Kurdish politician, lawyer and Member of the Turkish Parliament. It belongs to the population of Zaza.

Ata studied at the Law Faculty of Dicle University Diyarbakir law and worked as a defense lawyer of jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan later.

In the 2007 parliamentary elections, she was elected for the constituency of Batman as an independent candidate in the Turkish National Assembly. Then she joined the Democratic Society Party (DTP ). After the banning of the DTP on 11 December 2009 she became a member of the successor party to the party of peace and Democracy ( BDP). In the parliamentary elections in Turkey in 2011 Ata was re-elected in her constituency Batman.

In September 2007, Ata and the deputies Aysel Tugluk was accused of " propaganda for an illegal organization " and " supporting a terrorist organization" is something done.

Ata is a member of the Human Rights Association ( IHD). She is married and mother of a child.
