Aylette Buckner

Aylette Buckner ( born July 21, 1806 Greensburg, Kentucky; † July 3, 1869 in Lexington, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1847 and 1849 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Aylette Buckner, son of Congressman Richard Aylett Buckner (1763-1847), visited the New Athens Seminary. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started in Greensburg to work in this profession. Politically, he was a member of the Whig party. In the years 1842 and 1843 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Kentucky.

In the congressional elections of 1846 Buckner was in the fourth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joshua Fry Bell on March 4, 1847. Since he Democrat George Caldwell defeated in the next elections, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1849. During this time, ended the Mexican -American War. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Buckner moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he practiced law. In 1864 he returned to Lexington. There he is on July 3, 1869 and passed away.
