Aynalıkavak Palace

The Aynalikavak Palace ( Turkish Aynalikavak Kasrı ) in Istanbul, Turkey, is a former sultan's palace, which was used in the summer.

Location

The palace is situated on the Golden Horn directly on the Bosphorus, and is now a museum.

History

Under Sultan Ahmet I (1603-1617) summer palaces were built on the site of today's palace, which were referred to as " shipyard Castles". The plants were subsequently expanded and called Aynalikavak Palace since the beginning of the 18th century.

The current build status goes to the buildings of Sultan Ahmet III. (1703-1730) and especially the renewal by Sultan Selim III. (1789-1807) back. The castle is high on the lake side and two on the land side one floor.

Today, the Palace Museum presents an exhibition of Turkish musical instruments.
