Äynu or Ainu, a Turkic language, which belongs to the Uighur branch for this group and is very closely related to the Uighur. The speakers are referred to by the Uyghur as Abdal.
Dissemination
Äynu is spoken by about 7,000 people in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. Most speakers live in the district of Kashgar, where especially in the circles Yengisar, Shule and in some villages of the city of Kashgar and the circle Yarkant; more Äynu spokesman there are in the district of Hotan Hotan in circles, Lop and Karakax.
Status
The grammar of Äynu is the Uygur very similar, the lexicon contains many Persian Lehn and foreign words. By some researchers Äynu is considered a dialect of Uyghur. The thesis that it was actually an Iranian language that was strongly influenced Uighur is no longer represented today. The Chinese government expects the Äynu the nationality of the Uyghur, the Äynu so do not have the status of an independent minority.
Äynu is spoken only by adult men. With strangers and women agreements are made in Uighur. It is so to speak a secret language.
