Ayr Bruins

The Ayr Bruins were an ice hockey club in the town of Ayr in Scotland. The Bruins played from 1982 to 1992 in the British Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1939 under the name Ayr Raiders. The team first played in the Scottish National League, the league title they won in 1952 and 1953 in each of the years. After dissolution of the Scottish National League, the Raiders changed for season 1954/55 in the British National League, whose last place they occupied. From 1963 to 1966 the team played under the name Ayr Rangers, followed by 25 years as Ayr Bruins. From 1982 to 1992, the team in the Premier Division of the British Hockey League was a member of, the then highest British Hockey League. Finally, the team played in the 1992/93 season once again under the name Ayr Raiders in the second class division one of the British Hockey League.

From 1996 to 2002 played with the Ayr Scottish Eagles another team from the city to the Ice Hockey Superleague.
