Ayuko Ito

Ayuko Itō (Japanese伊藤 亜 由 子, Itō Ayuko; born September 29, 1986 in Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese Shorttrackerin.

Already thirteen years old Ito went for the first time of the season at a major international event to the start of the Junior World Championship 2003 in Budapest, where she won the bronze medal at first. Even a year later in Beijing with their first single starts pushed her over 1500 meters before the semi-finals. After these good results, the Japanese Association put them at the age of 14 years for the first time in the short track speed skating World Cup in February 2004 at the start, there she was disqualified with the season in the semifinals. Also in the season 2004/ 05 reach the Japanese in the World Cup have had little success, best result was a 20th place over 500 meters. For this, they reached at the Junior World Championships 2005 in Belgrade again in two races the semi-finals. The World Cup season 2006/ 07 was quite successful for Itō, with a tenth place over 500 meters she reached her first top-10 result. A year later she improved her best World Cup result to a ninth place, which they also won over 500 meters in Heerenveen. In addition, she placed herself at the home World Cup in Kobe with the season as a third party even on the podium. For large events it did not go as well as last year at the start. At the start of World Cup 2008/ 09 Itō get good results, including an eighth place in Nagano, again at the home World Cup.
