Ayuwang Pagoda

The Ayuwang Pagoda and King Ashoka Pagoda (Chinese:阿育王 塔; Pinyin: Ayuwang Ta ) is a pagoda in the Chinese district of Dai Shanxi province. It is named after King Ashoka, the third monarch of the Indian Mauryan dynasty, named, called in Chinese " Ayuwang ". It is located on the grounds of the no longer extant today Yuanguo Temple ( Yuanguo Si圆 果 寺), which is why it is also called the Pagoda of Yuanguo Temple (圆 果 寺塔). It was first built in 601 in the time of the Sui Dynasty. In its present form, it dates back to the year 1275 the Mongol dynasty. In 1681, during the period of the Qing Dynasty it was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 1694 restored.

The Ayuwang Pagoda ( Ayuwang ta) since 2001 has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 5-234 ).
