Ayvacık, Çanakkale

Ayvacık is a city and a county in the northwestern Turkish province of Çanakkale. The district is located in the southwest of the province on the Aegean Sea, the city is located about 60 km south of the provincial capital of Çanakkale on the E -87 from Canakkale to Izmir. In 2011 the town had 7,619 inhabitants, the county 30,285.

In the extreme southwest of the circle lies to the Cape Baba the westernmost point of Anatolian mainland and therefore the continent Asia. The area is mountainous, about ten kilometers west of the county town is the highest with 672 meters mountain Kavak Dagi. Ayvacık forms the southern end of the Troad historic area. To the west is the Aegean Sea, south of the Gulf of Edremit ( Edremit Körfezi ). In the north, bordering the county on Ezine and Bayramiç, on the east by the province of Balıkesir.
