Azali Assoumani

Azali Assoumani ( born January 1, 1959 in Mitsoudjé, Comoros ) from 1999 to 2006, President of the Comoros.

Life

Assoumani was on 30 April 1999 as president of the country, after the previous president Tadjidine Ben Said overthrown Massounde because it seemed to support the independence movement Anjouan. The Office of the President had Assoumani held until January 21, 2002, but then won on 26 May 2002, the multi-party elections. In May 2006, he was defeated in the presidential elections the Islamists Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi.

Assoumani is married and has four children.
