Azam Ali

Azam Ali (Persian اعظم علی, DMG A ʿ Alī ʿ zam; born 1970 in Tehran, Iran) is a singer of Iranian descent living in Canada.

Biography

Azam was born in 1970 in Tehran, moved with her family but at the age of four years to Panchgani, India. This was strongly influenced by Indian culture and music.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979 changed the lives of many Iranian families, including the Ali. 1985, Azam was a teenager, her mother decided not to return to the home country. Instead, they went together to the United States to California. Azam now lives in Montreal, Canada.

Azam has collaborated in their careers with many different artists and film composers; among other things, with Serj Tankian ( System Of A Down ), Dredg, The Crystal Method, Juno Reactor, Buckethead, the film composer Tyler Bates ( currently for the film 300) and Jeff Rona, Kodo and Mickey Hart.

Projects

In addition to her solo career Azam Ali realized so far also several projects with other artists (see biography ). International critical acclaim earned it the band projects " Vas " and " Niyaz ". Vas played " Alternative World Music" and sat next to Azam Ali as a singer nor of the American percussionist Greg Ellis together. Vas is often compared with the Australian band Dead Can Dance. Niyaz is a collaboration with top deejay, music programmer / producer and remixer Carmen Rizzo, Loga Ramin and Torkian of the popular in Iran crossover band Axiom of Choice. Currently, Azam Ali is working with Tyler Bates at the Roseland project.
