Azamethiphos is an insecticide from the group of Thiophosphoric. It is structurally - chemically closely related to the insecticide Phosalone. It is used against houseflies in the house and barn. It is used to control fish lice in salmon farms, where it is intended to replace dichlorvos.

Operation

Azamethiphos inhibits the enzyme cholinesterase in the synapses of the nerve cells. Thus, it prevents the transmission of nerve stimuli.

Toxicology and Ecotoxicology

The feed admixed Azamethiphos is rapidly and completely absorbed by mammals, but also rapidly metabolized and excreted. Pest control

Veterinary Medicine

Azamethiphos is used in the fattening of salmon to keep the stock free of fish lice. There has to be distributed as a wettable powder in water.
