Azar Karadas

Azar Karadas ( born August 9, 1981 in Nordfjordeid, Eid ) is a Norwegian footballer who plays for Sogndal Fotball. He also also has Turkish citizenship.

Career

The striker began his career at SK Brann in 1999 in the first Norwegian league. After two years he moved on 13 March 2001 for the Liga rivals Rosenborg Trondheim. Because of this change he received from the fans even some death threats. Through his achievements at Rosenborg, including two goals against Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup, various clubs from Europe were aware of the talented striker very quickly. He received offers from Liverpool and Udinese Calcio. For deciding to move abroad was, however, Giovanni Trapattoni, the Karadas in the 2004/2005 season brought to Benfica.

In Portugal he won with Lisbon the first championship of the club after 11 years. But after a year one became dissatisfied with him, and Karadas moved on loan to Portsmouth in the English Premier League. After his return to Lisbon paved a change back to Norway. However, the transfer failed due to the low level of financial strength of the SK Brann.

So Karadas was borrowed for another year. He played in the 2006/2007 season at the 1 FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga 2.

Between the end of August 2007 to September 2009 Karadas again played with his hometown club SK Brann Bergen. The transfer fee, which was ordered to pay his old club Benfica, the club is estimated at 3.5 million Norwegian kroner. Since 1 September 2009, he plays for Kasımpaşa Istanbul in the Süper Lig

After three years in Turkey, he returned in the summer of 2012 returned to his native Norway and signed for first division club Sogndal Fotball.
