Azaz (Arabic أعزاز, DMG A ʿ ZAZ; alternative spellings Azas or Asa ), is a Syrian city. It is located in the province of Aleppo and has about 70,000 inhabitants.

Location

Azaz is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Aleppo and seven kilometers south of the Turkish border.

History

At the Battle of Azaz Azaz between the Crusader States and the Seljuk Turks took place on June 11, 1125. It ended with a victory for the Crusaders and allowed them to recover much of their influence they had lost after their defeat at the Battle of Ager Sanguinis.
