Azerbaijan national under-21 football team

The Azerbaijani U-21 football team is a national team of Azerbaijani football players. They are subject to Azərbaycan Futbol Federasiyaları Assosiasiyası ( AFFA ) and represents him on the U-21 level, in friendly matches against the national teams of other national associations, but also at the European Championships of the continental federation UEFA.

Be eligible, players who have not yet completed their 21 years of age and possess the Azerbaijani nationality. In tournaments, the age at first qualifier is relevant.

History

The Azerbaijani U-21 football team took over in 1998 for the first part in the qualification to a U-21 Football Championship. So far, however, the team could never qualify for a European final. In so far 52 qualifiers for the U21 Azerbaijan reach just three victories. The first victory was retracted with a 2-1 win over Hungary on 9 October 1998. The two other victories followed on 6 October 2000 in Macedonia 2-1, which also represents the only previous away win of the team, and on 4 September 2001 in the home game with a 1-0 again against the Macedonians. However, the Azerbaijani selection suffered often scarce, but also sometimes high losses against the gambling strongest teams of the European continent. Thus, Azerbaijan lost the home game on 1 September 2000 with 0:5 against Sweden. The first significant defeat had the Azerbaijanis in Portugal must plug already on 25 March 1999, when the team was defeated 5-0. The biggest failure experienced team on June 8, 2009. The team had no chance in England and lost 7-0.

In qualifying matches to a U -21 Football Championship, the team has played more games 52. The balance is negative with 3 wins, 11 draws and 38 defeats. Since 2008 Bernhard Lippert is coach of the U- 21 team of Azerbaijan.
