Azerbaijani Popular Front Party

The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan ( Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Xalq Cəbhəsi Partiyası ) is one of the largest opposition parties in the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is geared patriotic and critical of the current political system of Azerbaijan.

Since the death of ex-leader Əbülfəz Elçibəy in 2000, the party is divided into two wings. One is the reform camp under Əli Kərimli, the other is the classic wing under Mirmahmud Mirəlioğlu.

The party is currently a member of the electoral block "freedom" ( Azadliq ) - with the parties ADP and National Independence. The parties have, however, lost the last ( probably fake by the government) election and have not even started their seats in the new parliament.

History

The Azerbaijani parliamentary elections in 2005 the party joined forces with the Musavat within the party list freedom, but won only one seat in parliament.
