Azerspace-1/Africasat-1a

Azerspace (also AzerSat -1 ( Azerbaijani AzərSat -1) or Africasat -1a ) is the first Azerbaijani satellite. Built by Orbital Sciences Corporation, he was started on February 7, 2013 at 21:36 UTC from the launch pad ELA -3 of the Guiana Space Centre together with the Amazon 3 of an Ariane 5 ECA. The satellite provides transmission capacity for television, internet and radio for Europe and much of Asia and Africa. The design life is 15 years.

Construction

The satellite based on the satellite bus STAR -2- OSC and is approximately five kilowatts of electrical power for the payload prepared. The energy is supplied by solar panels which consist of UTJ gallium arsenide cells. The energy can be stored in two lithium -ion batteries with a capacity of more than 4840 W / hr. Azerspace is three-axis stabilized. Serves as the drive to reach the target orbit a drive system with two fuels. To navigate in orbit are driven by hydrazine thrusters.
