Azeye

Azèye (also: Azzèye ) is a rural municipality in the department of Abalak in Niger.

Geography

Azèye lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Akoubounou and Abalak the northwest, Tamaya in the north, Bermo in the northeast, Babankatami in the southeast, southwest and Ibohamane Tabotaki in the west. The municipality is divided into 30 administrative villages, 17 traditional villages, 18 hamlets, eight warehouses and four water points. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Azèye (also: Azzèye ).

History

The rural community Azèye originated as an administrative unit in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform in a previously unincorporated area.

Population

At the 2001 census Azèye had 24 129 inhabitants. For the year 2010 32.438 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located at the junction of the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the South to the North zone of the Agropastoralismus.
