Azra

Azra was a Yugoslav rock band. It was founded in 1977 by Branimir "Johnny" Štulić in Zagreb.

History

The band's name, have been adapted from the Bosnian Sevdalinka, Kraj tanana šadrvana. The name comes in the verse (Eng. " Yes se zovem El Muhamed / Iz plemena starih Azra / Sto za ljubav život GUBE / I umiru kada Ljube! ": "My name is El Muhamed / From the tribe of the old Azra / What for Love will lose life / which die when they love. " ) This song comes from the poem the Asra of Heinrich Heine. The first album " Azra " appeared in 1980 in Jugoton. After 1987, the last studio album Izmedju krajnosti came out, the band released 1988 quadruple live album Zadovoljština. Then Branimir Štulić dissolved the band to pursue a solo career.
