AZS AWF Poznań

The AZS AWF Poznań is a sports club based in the Polish city of Poznan. The club with the club colors of blue and white was founded in 1977 at the Sports University in Poznan ( Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego ). He maintains departments in gymnastics, hockey, kickboxing, athletics, handball, water polo, swimming, volleyball, taekwondo, fencing and rowing.

Hockey

The hockey department was established in 1997 with a women's team, three years later, a men's team came to be composed solely of students of high school sports. The team plays since 2001 in the top Polish league and could prove in 2009 both in the field and in the hall in the championship in third place. In the 2009/2010 season AZS AWF represented Poland at the Euro Hockey League, where the team already retired after 1:4 against East Grinstead Hockey Club and 0:6 against Amsterdam H & BC after the preliminary round. The ladies of the club were 1998 Polish field hockey champion, as well as 2000 and 2002 Polish indoor hockey champions.

Athletics

The world champion in 2009 and world record holder in the hammer throw Anita Włodarczyk starts for AZS AWF Poznań.
