The Namibian National Road B1 is the main north-south road in Namibia and crosses the entire country of Noordoewer in the south ( with the border crossing to South Africa) until after Oshikango in the north ( with the border crossing to Angola).

The B1 also forms the backbone of the network of national roads in Namibia and the total traffic in the country. It is part of the Tripoli - Cape Town Highway.

Road conditions

The B1 is applied to its entire length as a two-lane, paved road and around Windhoek around as a four-lane road with separate lanes. In many places, especially between Rehoboth and Windhoek, there are numerous, up to 500 meters long, one-sided passing lanes (so-called Climbing Lanes, on German climbing tracks).

The entire four-lane extension of the section from Okahandja to Windhoek started in January 2014.
