BA-X

The BA -X is the monthly job index of the Federal Employment Agency. This is intended to reflect the development of the BA- known locations in the primary labor market and serve as an indicator of the demand for labor.

History

The Federal Employment Agency ( BA) has designed a new points barometer, which is published monthly from January 2007. The BA-X has been developed since 2006 by a team of experts of the labor market reporting, the Federal Employment Agency. The BA-X is always displayed on the eve of the monthly press conference. He is a current job index in Germany, which is based not on surveys or assessments, but on concrete locations by businesses.

Methodology

The BA- known locations with its four components of the first labor market form the basis for the BA -X. First labor market means that feed into the index unsubsidised notified bodies, the additional posts of the job market and the job robot and the location of the private placement, as well as for freelancers and self-employed. Not included are those of the BA reported funded places.

All the components used to calculate the BA known locations are fully only since 2004. Therefore, the SA -X starts at an index level of 100 for the annual average in 2004.

For the calculation of the BA- known locations of the first labor market are seasonally adjusted by the Institute for Labour Market and Occupational Research. In a second step, the deviations from the average for 2004, which was normalized to 100, is calculated. Since the seasonally adjusted values ​​are calculated monthly and therefore the new time series is newly created, it can be variations in the individual BA -X versions month.

Statistical basis

The BA- known locations

The BA known locations are made up of four sub- components: the BA notified bodies, other BA notified bodies from the private placement, as well as for freelancers and self-employed, other positions on the BA job market as well as additional sites on the BA job robot. The foundations of the concept of calculating the BA- known locations were provided by the Institute for Labour Market and Occupational Research.

When calculating the sum of the BA- known locations only the locations of the BA job market are taken into account, which are detected in addition to and are not yet registered in the size of BA notified bodies. Overlap, resulting in reported authorities and those of the BA job robot ( about 8 % ) are also filtered out by means of a regular sample.
