Baba Zula

Baba Zula is an Istanbul music group, the western rock music mixed with oriental music. They describe their music style as " Oriental Dub".

The group was founded in 1996 by the singer and Murat Ertel Sazspieler, the percussionist Levent Akman and Darbukaspieler Emre Önel. The latter was replaced by Coşar Kamçı 2005. From 2004 to 2010 was still part of the Live illustrator Ceren Oykut it. The musicians work together with live singers and belly dancers.

In the founding year her first album, Tabutta Rövaşata appeared ( upside down / somersault in the coffin ). It was followed by five more, as well as soundtracks for films such as Turkish Ice Cream, I Scream (2006).

Baba Zula gained in Europe fame through numerous appearances. In particular, the film Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul (2005) by Fatih Akin formation introduced a boost in popularity abroad and international publications on various world music compilations.
