Babice u Rosic

Babice u Rosic, until 1960 Babice ( German Babitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers southwest of Rosice and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

The scale than Rundling village located in the Bosko brázda in Rossitz - Oslawaner coal basin. To the north- east, the Babický les extends ( Babitzer Forest).

Neighboring towns are Dul Ferdinand, Zastávka and Nivky in the north, Rosice, Pendrov and Pod Trojicí in the northeast, Tetčice in the east, Kratochvilka the southeast, Dul Jindrich and Zbysov in the south, Horni colony in the southwest, Zakřany in the west and Vysoke Popovice Příbramský Mlýn and Pribram na Moravě in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1228 in the confirmation certificate Otakar I Přemysls about the founding of the Cistercian monastery " Vallis S. Mariae " in Oslavany. 1307 sold the convent for nuns at the monastery village Sedlec. After further changes of ownership Babice was finally connected to the rule Rossitz. Below belonged, among others, the village Johann the Elder of Zerotein, his son Charles the Elder of Zerotein and from 1628 Albrecht of Wallenstein. At the beginning of the 17th century was the village of 15 properties. After the end of the Thirty Years' War were five of them desolate. Since 1840 coal was funded in Babice. First shafts were created with reel promotion, which reached a depth between 25 and 45 m. For a deep water solution was a sough of God's blessing propelled into the Skříňekwald at Babice and created a system of seven other Stolln. 1840 lived in 32 houses of Babice 236 people. Until the mid-19th century Babice always remained subservient to Rossitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Babice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno team. Began in 1856 northwest of the village of the Teufung Ferdinand shaft that was equipped with a carrier. 1880 was a village school, has previously been taught in Rossitz. 1890, the village had grown to 81 stores and had 748 inhabitants. Ten years later, had 788 inhabitants and 99 houses. In 1921, the community was part of the Okres Brno- venkov. Since 1948 Babice belonged to Okres Rosice. After the abolition of Okres Rosice Babice 1961 came back to Okres Brno- venkov and received the distinction of Babice nad Svitavou the official name suffix u Rosic. Between 1980 and 1990 the village was incorporated to Zbysov. In 1992 the colliery Dul Ferdinand was kept.

Attractions

  • Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua, built in 1863 in place of a bell tower. 1925 the tower received a new roof, the shingled onion tower was replaced with a pointed tin roof.
