Babolsar

BABOLSAR (Persian بابلسر ) is a city in the province Māzandarān on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea near the mouth of Bābolflusses. It is located 20 km north of Bābol and is surrounded by rice fields.

History

The city takes its present name since 1927, previously she was known as Mashhad -e Sar. Since the mid-18th century, the city became an important port, lost its commercial status but after Reza Shah's reign in favor of today's Bandar -e Torkaman (formerly Bandar -e Shah ) again. Since the end of World War II, the city developed into a major seaside resort. Nowadays there are more BABOLSAR the main faculties of the University of Māzandarān.
