Bacalar

Bacalar ( maya: Bakhalal: surrounded by reed) is a city in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, on the Yucatán Peninsula, about 40 km north of the capital Chetumal.
Bacalar was named Pueblo Mágico sogenanntens ( magic city) from SECTUR ( Secretary of Tourism in Mexico).
History
Bacalar was already a city in pre-Columbian period and the first in this region, which was conquered in 1543 by Spanish conquistadors.
Geography
The city is situated on the west bank of the same name Bacalar Lagoon ( Laguna de Bacalar ).
