Bacardi

Bacardi [ bəkɑɹdi ] Limited is a company incorporated in Bermuda, the manufacturing spirits and alcoholic drinks in over 100 countries and markets. The eponymous rum brand is one of the best-selling spirits brands in the world. Among the more than 200 other Group brands include Martini ( vermouth ), Grey Goose ( vodka), Bombay Sapphire ( gin ), Dewar's (Scotch whiskey ) and the Cazadores tequila brand. In Germany, the Group has offices in Hamburg by the Bacardi GmbH with seat, a bottling plant is located in Buxtehude.

History

On February 4, 1862, the distillery was Bacardi & Ca. in Santiago de Cuba from the Catalan (Spain ) derived Facundo Bacardi i Massó ( 1814-1887 ) founded. The first of several to date shown on the bottle label international medals won, the company in 1876 at the World Exhibition in Philadelphia. Political Activities

Emilio Bacardi Moreau, son of the company founder, the late 19th century fought against the Spanish occupying power and has therefore been banned twice. Later he became the first freely elected mayor of the city of Santiago de Cuba.

The Bacardi family supported the struggle of the revolutionaries against the dictator Fulgencio Batista.
