Backnang Abbey

That the St. Pancras consecrated pen Backnang was a regulated Augustinian Canons.

It was founded before 1116 by Herman II, Margrave of Verona and Baden, and his wife Judith at the Backnanger church. 1116, Pope Paschal I, the founding. Already in 1123 had to be renewed the monastery with the help of Augustinians of the Marbach Abbey in Alsace.

1297 Backnang was part of Württemberg, 1366 reached Count Eberhard II, the sovereignty over the finances of the monastery. 1477 the pin with the approval of Pope Sixtus IV was converted into a collegiate. 1535 the monastery was abolished. However, the Backnanger canons reached by complaint with Emperor Charles V that the pin was again occupied briefly in 1551. 1593 died the last Canons, the pin was therefore canceled permanently.
