The Backstreet Boys are an American boy band. The band was founded April 20, 1993 in Orlando, Florida by Lou Pearlman. Worldwide she has sold more than 100 million records, making them the most successful boy band.
In 1992, Howard Dwaine Dorough, Alexander James McLean and met at a talent contest. Nicholas Gene Carter came a short time later. Kevin Scott Richardson worked at that time still as a model and songwriter. Kevin beat his cousin Brian Littrell Thomas before the band who sang in the church choir at the time. Johnny Wright, previous manager member of New Kids on the Block, was hired by Pearlman as their manager.
In autumn 1995, the Backstreet Boys started their career with the single We've Got It Going On. In Germany, the single reached gold status. Their second single I'll Never Break Your Heart reached in Austria even place 1 Even for this single got the Backstreet Boys gold. The debut album Backstreet Boys appeared then in the spring of 1996. It reached 6- platinum status. Quit Playin ' Games with My Heart was her first number - one single in Germany. Even this single from the debut album reached platinum.
In the summer of 1997, the second album was released, entitled Backstreet 's Back. The single from the Everybody ( Backstreet 's Back ) reached number 2 in Germany. During the subsequent U.S. tour, it was quiet around the Backstreet Boys in Europe. The tour was followed by the third studio album titled Millennium. This album was sold after its release within a week about 1.3 million copies in the U.S.. The singles Larger Than Life were from the album, I Want It That Way, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely and The One disengaged.
End of 2000, the Backstreet Boys released their album Black & Blue. Single releases were from The Call, Shape of My Heart and More Than That.
Her first best-of album, titled Greatest Hits - Chapter One was released in late 2001 and was sold to date, over 7 million times. In the same year, the alcoholism of the band member AJ was known. It emerged first separation rumors, but the band stayed together. However, it was quiet and it appeared for the time being no further recordings.

The plans to restart the band began in 2004. Backstreet Boys recorded the album Never Gone on, which was released on 13 June 2005. The first single, Incomplete, hit the shelves on May 30, 2005. The second single, Just Want You to Know, was released on 12 September 2005. On 11 October 2005 Jive Records released the title Crawling Back to You as a download single under the motto "Music for Hurricane Relief" in favor of the cyclone victims in the states.
From 5 October to 5 November 2005, the Backstreet Boys toured throughout Germany. Due to great demand an extra show was offered in the Arena Nuremberg as well as in the Cologne Arena.
Following the publication of the third European single I Still on 25 November 2005, which was very successful in Germany, among others, separation rumors were further fueled by the release of the first solo album, Welcome Home by Brian Littrell 2006 arose again. On June 23, 2006 Kevin Richardson left the group after 13 years.
The four remaining Backstreet Boys released after a year on 5 October 2007, the first single as a quartet with the title Inconsolable. This was the first single from the sixth studio album Unbreakable. The second single was called Helpless When She Smiles and published on 11 January 2008. On 16 February 2008, the Unbreakable World Tour started in Tokyo and ended on May 22 in St. Petersburg ( Russia), seven of the concerts took place in Germany.
In September 2009, the Backstreet Boys released the single Straight Through My Heart in Germany prior to the album This Is Us. This end of the year again follows a tour of the U.S. and Europe.
As part of the 2010 American Music Awards, the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block NKOTBSB first presented as a choreographed show, in which a part of their hits had been interwoven. On the occasion of the traditional New Year's celebration was followed by a second appearance in front of about one million people in New York's Times Square. The latest album of the band called In A World Like This released on August 2, 2013 in Germany. On November 18, 2013, it confirmed a tour with the original line in 2014.

In the summer of 1999, the Backstreet Boys broke the record for the biggest selling album in the first week of release. From their third album Millennium already 1.13 million copies were sold within a week after publication. Overall, the album more than 30 million copies sold in 43 countries around the world and reached platinum status in 28 countries.
They were nominated five times for a Grammy, among other things, were four times, won the Billboard Music Award three times, the World Music Award, five times with the MTV Europe Music Award, and twice with the MTV Video Music Award.
