Bad crosses is a market town and a Kneippkurzentrum in Upper Austria in the Lower Upper Austria in the district of Perg with 2338 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The place in the judicial district Perg is located about 17 kilometers east of the district capital Perg, where there is also the seat of the competent district court.

Geography

Bad crosses situated at an altitude of 474 m above sea level. A. 7 km north of the Danube at Grein. The expansion is 9.4 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 8.5 km. The total area is 39.8 square kilometers. 29.4 percent of the area is forested, 64.6 percent of the area is used for agriculture.

History

The oldest mention of the castle was built around 900 crosses as Chroucen dates from the year 1147. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.

The original four cadastral and 1850 independent local churches crosses, Kalmberg, Dörfl and Wetzel stone and parts of Grein associated cadastral Panholz were united in 1875 to the local community cruising. The market town cites a 1482 documented market law. Cruising is water-cure establishment since 1846. Since 1973 Bad crosses is, building on the long tradition as a Kneipp spa town and the official name of the municipality.

Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Population Development

In 1991, the municipality had 2277 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 2333 inhabitants.

Culture and sights

  • Castle Cross: The once second largest after the Burg Theatre mountain fortifications in Upper Austria was built around 900 as Fliehburg. You can see the arcaded courtyard, the board room, the chapel and the castle tower.
  • The natural monument Vierlinden at the Mary Help of Christians Chapel, the Natural Monument Burglinde in the courtyard of the castle crosses, the natural monument house oak (stones realms) and the Hiblereiche in Mitter Dörfl are reported in the nature book of the Upper Austrian government as natural monuments.
