Bad Rehburg

Rehburg is a former spa town in the mountains Rehburger. Today Rehburg is a district of the city Rehburg -Loccum in the south of Nienburg / Weser in Lower Saxony. The village lies at an altitude of 85 m above sea level. NN and has about 800 inhabitants.

Location and transport

Rehburg is located directly on the B 441 and about 25 km from the A2 with the departure Wunstorf - Luthe. The village lies between the Steinhude and the Weser, it is located on the foothills of the mountains Rehburger 5 km southwest of the Steinhuder sea and about 12 km east of the Weser. Rehburg is almost completely surrounded by forest, only in the northeast border a few fields to the houses. Since 1997, a citizen bus runs between the villages of Rehburg -Loccum.

History

The small settlement in the mountains Rehburger was first mentioned in 1690, as the effectiveness of its medicinal springs became known. The, also known as Rehburger fountain settlement belonged first to the city Rehburg and later became independent.

In the hundred years from 1750 to 1850 known as the " Madeira of the North" health resort attracted the nobility of the Kingdom of Hanover to Bad Rehburg. On March 1, 1974, the municipality of Bad Rehburg was incorporated into the new city Rehburg -Loccum.

In 1990, the city celebrated an elaborate 300 - year celebration.

Religions

  • The Protestant chapel was built in 1840-42 by Friederike Friederike of Mecklenburg -Strelitz and her husband Ernst August I. (Hannover). It belongs to the parish in Rehburg.
  • Catholic worship was from 1929 to 1984 in Frederick pavilion, a chapel had been set up in the space instead. The pavilion is named after after Friedrich August, Duke of York and Albany. He was originally a pump house and was later implemented. Today it is used for cultural events. The nearest Catholic Church is now in Rehburg about 5 km away.
