The village of Bad Schönau is a municipality and health resort in the district of Wiener Neustadt- Land in Lower Austria with 728 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Bad Schönau is the Hunchback world, the south-eastern part of Lower Austria's industrial district, in the valley of Zöbernbaches.

The area of ​​the municipality covers 13.58 km ². 41.32 % of the area is forested.

History

Before Christ's birth, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the area of the Celtic hillfort castle on the Schwarzenbacher Castle Hill.

Later, under the Romans was then today's Bad Schönau in the province of Pannonia.

The former name was Schönau Schönau in the mountains. Efforts to change this name to the present date from the year 1954, where a council resolution was passed. On the carbonated mineral springs for today's bathroom, people became aware in 1950, as not only water, but carbonic acid gas, ie carbon dioxide escapes unique in eastern Austria. Similar treatments with dry gas baths are performed in Lazne in the Czech Republic.

Within the European competition " Entente Florale Europe " Bad Schönau was awarded a gold medal in the village in 1999.

Economy and infrastructure

Coat of arms

Blazon: In a golden shield, a red pole, topped with a silver blue fountain, from which rises a silver, interspersed with air bubbles water fountain.

The coat of arms was granted in 1975 and is intended to indicate the carbonic acid hot spring.
