Badea Cârțan

Badea Cartan (about Uncle Cartan ) whose real name is Gheorghe Cartan ( born January 24, 1849 in Cârţişoara, Transylvania; † August 7, 1911 in Sinaia ) was a Romanian shepherd.

Cartan, in Oprea Cârţişoara ( Kleinkerz ) - a district of Cârţişoara - born in 1894 went for the first time to Rome on foot, to look at the representations of the Dacians on Trajan's Column itself. Then he was twice in Rome. Cartan fought for the independence of the Romanians in Transylvania and Romanian smuggled countless books on the Fagaras Mountains from Wallachia.
