The Cooperative State University Baden -Württemberg ( DHBW ) is since March 1, 2009, a public university in Baden- Württemberg, which offers dual degree programs and is also the largest university in the country. It is, like most universities in Baden -Württemberg, a public corporation and state institution at the same time.

The Cooperative State University Baden -Württemberg covers the legally dependent Studienakademien: Heidenheim, Karlsruhe, Lörrach, Mannheim, Mosbach with the field offices Bad Mergentheim and Heilbronn, Ravensburg with the branch office Friedrichshafen, Stuttgart with the branch office Horb and Villingen -Schwenningen. The system of the comprehensive multi-site university was modeled on the U.S. State University system.

History

According to the coalition agreement of 5 May 2006, the existing vocational colleges were converted to the Duale Hochschule Baden- Württemberg. By resolution of the Diet of 3 December 2008, the State Higher Education Act March 1, 2009 has been amended accordingly. The elimination of the Higher Education Act opened the necessary legal leeway to convert the cooperative education without sacrificing their existing structural features.

Study

The dual degree program consists of academic studies and a practical part, which takes place in an external operation. Theory and practical phases change in the rhythm of approximately three months.

The operation, referred to as dual partner may be a firm or a public body that has been found by the Cooperative State University as staffing and suitable. Candidates include a three-year training contract with the Cooperative Partner, in which half of the training takes place. The training contract is defined by the land and is binding on the company. Students are therefore also paid a salary. Its amount depends on the industry and the operation.

The Cooperative State University confers upon completion of the three -year study of the Bachelor degree as; from one program to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science. For selected graduates of the University of Cooperative Education offers a non- consecutive Master program. The courses are offered in cooperation with the Cooperative partners as part-time study. Currently about 100 courses in the fields of business, engineering and social services are offered in more than 20 degree programs.

Accreditation

The Cooperative State University makes the accreditation by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency to perform.
