Friedrich storm on the Baden height

The Baden height is a mountain in the Black Forest to the districts of Baden -Baden and Forbach. With 1002.5 m above sea level. NHN it forms the highest point of the Baden-Baden city area. The mountain is situated above the hamlet of Forbach Herrenwies near the Schwarzenbachtalsperre.

Can be found next to a refuge of Anton Klein built and on October 5, 1891 by the Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden, inaugurated in 1890, 30 meters tall Friedrich Sturm on site. From here you can see for miles over the northern Black Forest, among other things, Mr. Wies, the Herrenwieser lake, the nearby Mehliskopf and Hornisgrinde. Weather permitting, you can up the Rhine valley overlook the Vosges Mountains and north to the mountain range of the Haardt, the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest.

The tower was 1884, the founding of the Baden -Baden preceded section of the Black Forest Association. In 2002, the tower had to be closed due to safety deficiencies. Thanks to a fundraiser the necessary restoration work was carried out quickly and the tower on 19 June 2003 be reopened.

Baden's height is now a popular hiking and excursion destination that is on many trails ( such as the western route ) well connected.

The forest on the summit of Baden's height is several storms, including hurricane Lothar, largely fallen victim.
