Badger State Trail

The Badger State Trail is a 64 kilometer long so-called Vias Verdes in Wisconsin.

Course

The Badger State Trail runs first from the border with Illinois on Clarno, Monroe (connection to the Cheese Country Trail ), Monticello (connection to the Sugar River State Trail ), Exeter, Belleville and Basco. The surface of the path is in this section of limestone. Between Monticello and Belleville, the path runs through the 370 m long tunnel Stewart.

The section between Blasco to Madison is currently still under construction. In the capital city of Madison Badger State Trail is paved and is known as South West Path. In the south of the city there are connections to the Military Ridge State Trail.

History

On 15 December 1993 the part of Madison -Freeport of Wisconsin and Calumet Railroad was closed. 2006, a master plan for the transformation of the railway line has been adopted.
