Badia Tedalda
Badia is a municipality with 1083 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany region of Italy.
Geography
The municipality covers 120 km ². It is located about 35 km northeast of Arezzo and 80 km east of Florence in Valmarecchia ( Valmarecchia ) and the river Marecchia. The municipality is located in the climatic classification of Italian communities in Zone E, 2713 GG.
The main town is divided into the ancient and the higher part Tedalda Alta, where there was the Abbey and the Church of San Michele Arcangelo still is today. In situated below Alta part Tedalda Bassa is the town hall.
The districts include Caprile (815 meters altitude), Castellacciola, Cicognaia (630 meters altitude), Fresciano - Montebotolino, Montelabreve, Pratieghi ( 857 meters altitude, about 110 inhabitants), Rofelle (708 meters altitude), Sant'Andrea, Stiavola and Viamaggio ( 891 altitude ).
The municipal area also the three exclaves Ca ' Raffaello include (418 meters altitude, about 280 inhabitants, 8 km to the north ), Monterotondo ( not the district ) and Santa Sofia Marecchia (600 meters in altitude, 9 km to the north ), which from the Province of Rimini the major territories are separated. History
The church was probably built by the Romans, who settled on the Via Ariminensis between Arezzo and Rimini. In the Middle Ages two abbeys of the Benedictines were available in town, the di Arduino and the dei Tedaldi, which were merged in 1205 with the expansion of the Church of San Michele Arcangelo. 1489 reached the place in the sphere of influence of Florence.
