Badly Drawn Boy

His stage name comes from a character from the animated series Jamie and his Magic ball This series he had seen 1995 during a party in Trafford, Manchester on television.

Biography

Together with Andy Votel Gough founded the record label Twisted Nerve Records. In the years 1997 and 1998 he published it three EPs in small quantities, prior to joining XL Recordings. There, more EPs and singles were released from it, where the debut album The Hour of Bewilderbeast followed in 2000.

After a short pause he wrote the score for Nick Hornby adaptation About a Boy: The Day of the Dead Duck, grew out of the three singles.
