Badminton at the 1988 Summer Olympics

Badminton was a Vorführsportart (exhibition sport) at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. 32 participants from 10 countries had been admitted to the tournaments. Due to the violation of Jalani Sidek shortly before the start of the games and the associated rejection of the Lord's doubles with his brother Razif Sidek of Malaysia, the number of participants was reduced to 14 men and 16 women from nine countries. Since all disciplines began with the semi-finals and each player started in only one discipline could the entire badminton competition on one day, September 19, 1988, will be held at the Seoul National University Gymnasium. 2890 paying spectators watched the competitions. 390 officials and helpers ensured a smooth running of the tournament, in which 126 people were only used for badminton and 264 people were taken off the table tennis competition.
