Badulla ( Sinhala: බදුල්ල; Tamil: பதுளை ) is the capital of Uva Province and the district of Badulla in Sri Lanka. The city has about 42,000 inhabitants ( 2005), situated in the southeast of Sri Lanka on the river Badulu Oya.

Badulla was the seat of the Sinhalese princes who ruled the area before it was incorporated into the British Empire. Then it was the administrative seat of the British.
