BAE Guayas (BE-21)

The BAE Guayas (BE 21) is a sailing ship of the Ecuadorian Navy. She was launched on October 23, 1976 from the pile and was put into service on 23 July 1977. Her home port is Guayaquil, Ecuador. She has three sister ships: Cuauhtemoc (Mexico), Simón Bolívar (Venezuela) and Gloria (Colombia ), all of which were built at the shipyard Astilleros Celaya in Bilbao, Spain. The ship is used primarily for training future naval officers. She has a crew of 155 men, including 35 officers. In addition, 80 midshipmen. The Guayas regularly takes part in sailing regattas around the world.
