Bækkelagets SK

Bækkelagets sports club is a Norwegian sports club from Oslo.

The parent club was founded on 24 October 1909. At that time, Lito Kristian Håvaldsen, Leif Hurup and Albert and Olaf Christiansen decided at the confirmation of the former to establish a sports club for football and skiing. Later, other departments were added; now offers the club skiing, orienteering, handball, football, hockey, athletics and biathlon.

Flagship of the association is the handball department whose Ladies Division played several years in the Norwegian Elite Series.

Handball Department

History

Relatively soon after the founding in 1909 of the Bækkelagets SK called a women's handball department to life. 1938 denied the beach to the north IF the final of the first Norwegian field handball championship at all, but was defeated at first; until two years later, the club celebrated its first title.

After that it became increasingly quiet around the capital club; only in the 1990s, the success returned: 1994 the team won its first indoor handball championship. With players like Anja Andersen and Cecilie Leganger or coach Frode Kyvåg the club's top stars of international handball brought to Norway and built a powerful team on: 1998 and 1999 the team won the European Cup Winners' Cup, in 1994 they reached the final of the Euro -City Cup, 1995 in the EHF Cup final and 1998 and 1999 in the final of the EHF Champions Trophy. In the new millennium the Bækkelagets SK but was increasingly overtaken by Byåsen IL and Larvik HK. In the 2008 /09 season Bækkelagets dismounted in the first division.

The association currently has three honorary members: Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim, Sahra Hausmann and Cecilie Leganger

Orienteering

The orienteering team of Bækkelagets SK won in 1988, 1999 and 2002, the Jukola Relay for seven man teams in Finland. 1997 and 2001 the team of the club also won at the Tiomila.
